The decisive battle of the War of the Third Coalition: Austria and Russia, backed by British money and diplomacy, tried to stop French dominance in Central Europe. After crushing Austria at Ulm, Napoleon carried the war into Moravia; victory forced Austria out of the war, produced the Treaty of Pressburg, and effectively prepared the end of the Holy Roman Empire.
