An episode of the retreat after Leipzig in the War of the Sixth Coalition. After the Treaty of Ried, Bavaria already stood against France; Wrede’s corps tried to cut Napoleon’s road at Hanau. The French forced open the path to the Main and Frankfurt, but the strategic outcome of the 1813 campaign was already decided.
