Saxony

In 1806 Saxony became a kingdom under Napoleon and for seven years marched with his armies. After Leipzig Frederick Augustus I changed sides — and kept the crown without the empire that had raised it.

Here too are French marshals bound to that crown: Bernadotte led the Saxon corps; Saint-Cyr held Dresden to the last.
